Why did you choose youHQ?
We completed a student survey in 2021 which highlighted that students wanted the opportunity to regularly share how they were feeling with staff. The youHQ wellbeing and mood tracking function fitted exactly what we were looking for. We also wanted to build on our school values and promote them through the school, which fitted in perfectly with the values based goal setting found within youHQ.
youHQ also integrated with our safeguarding software MyConcern, so it enables staff to easily register and deal with concerns which were highlighted through the survey and tracking.
We also really liked the idea of an app to support student mental health with resources which we could add to and tailor to our own students' needs.
How did the school implement youHQ into their curriculum and timetable?
We started with year 10 for the summer term and then rolled it out across all year groups from September 2021. All students have iPads, so the app was downloaded on all devices and youHQ was given a weekly morning form time on a Wellbeing Wednesday.
Students login every week so we get up to date wellbeing information and students get access to a library of wellbeing and personal development resources and tools.
What’s been the main benefits from using youHQ?
It has allowed us to not only track student wellbeing from a senior leadership level, but it has allowed form tutors to get greater insight into their students through their goals and wellbeing surveys. The weekly snapshot email for tutors is super helpful as form tutors can get important data around their students wellbeing without even having to login!

"We are very excited to pilot the youHQ App to help us support young people and try and identify needs early. Schools will benefit with being able to identify health needs and promote wellbeing of their pupils as well as helping improve their health outcomes, the youHQ app is about strengthening young people’s resilience and know they can reach out for support, or simply offload."
Leicestershire County Council are working with Life On Time to provide universal support to young people to access advice and guidance as early as possible via the youHQ App. As part of their healthy child programme which aims to improve health and wellbeing of children, the youHQ App will work with schools to target support by signposting young people to appropriate services within the county. Schools will be able to intervene early to help deliver better health outcomes for children and young people in . Enabling them to lead independent and productive lives.

Why did you choose youHQ?
LCC are always looking to improve emotional wellbeing and mental health promotion and prevention through interventions which aim to strengthen an individual's capacity to regulate emotions, enhance alternatives to risk-taking behaviours, build resilience for managing difficult situations and adversity, and promote supportive social environments and social networks.
youHQ was chosen for a pilot whereby pupils can input their thoughts and emotions into an online platform that can be accessed via a computer or a smart mobile phone.
youHQ will provide schools participating in a pilot to trial the App on digital devices. This can be remotely accessed by pupils in participating schools via any internet platform.
The Application (App) will be able to:
-
Track and support student health and emotional wellbeing.
-
Provide within the App a mechanism that allows young people to set ‘value-based goals’ for themselves.
-
Allow Class Tutor, Safeguarding lead, and Head of school to see children’s wellbeing scores.
-
Provide within the App safeguarding ‘flags’ (issues of concern) to Class Tutor and Safeguarding leads.
-
Provide insight into young people’s behaviors i.e. mental health and wellbeing in order to improve pastoral support.
How did the school implement youHQ into their curriculum and timetable?
6 large secondary schools in the county were selected for the pilot. All six schools have varying degrees of IT resources and flexibility in their timetables. Several schools have rolled the pilot out to the whole school using 1:1 devices, while others are piloting smaller groups using ICT suites.

"Our tutors feel empowered by the extra data and new teachers have commented on how much it has helped them get to know their tutees."

March 2020
Why did you choose youHQ?
We have always promoted goal setting and wellbeing at the school but never been able track and support these areas effectively with the resources we had. We had an opportunity to work with youHQ early on in their development to help them shape the product whilst providing us with the right platform. We’d searched for a product that does all of this and couldn’t find one! youHQ ticked the boxes for us and was very much in line with our school and wider Quaker ethos.
How did the school implement youHQ into their curriculum and timetable?
We started with year 7 & 8 in the first lockdown. It was really useful as a simple check in for tutors and we used it on a daily basis. Mood levels were low and uncertainty high so being able to track this and positively promote goal setting when being stuck at home was so helpful to us and the students. We've now opened it up to year 9’as well and students log in from their school chrome books weekly on a Tuesday or Wednesday from time.
What’s been the main benefits from using youHQ?
There’s several! We can now more accurately track mood and wellbeing using the mood checker and WHO-5 survey. This forms a key part of regular pastoral meetings and can signpost hidden issues or validate those we know of. The extra detail that comes from the support function is vital to tutors and we’ve had stories where individuals have felt supported as a result (See James’ story here). Our tutors feel empowered by the extra data and new teachers have commented on how much it has helped them get to know their tutees. SLT is now looking at the potential for the app for the wider school, in boarding, and for academic target setting.
