Helping your child set goals
Children thrive when they feel in control of their own journey.

THE KEY IDEA
Goal setting doesn’t have to be grand or academic. What matters is ownership.
Keep it small and personal
A good goal can be as simple as “I want to remember my PE kit this week”, “I’m going to be braver putting my hand up” or “I’ll try to drink more water each day”. youHQ encourages pupils to set goals that feel personal, achievable and meaningful.
Your role
Help your child break a goal into steps, notice the effort rather than only the result, and avoid pressure. It’s about growth, not perfection.
TRY THIS AT HOME
This week’s question
Ask: “Is there something small you’d like to get better at this week?” Help them break it into steps, and celebrate the effort.
