How to Help Your Child Set Goals

Children thrive when they feel in control of their own journey.

Goalsetting doesn’t have to be grand or academic — it can be as simple as:

“I want to remember my PE kit this week.”

“I’m going to be braver putting my hand up in class.”

“I’ll try to drink more water each day.”

What matters is ownership. youHQ encourages students to set goals that feel personal, achievable, and meaningful.

Try this at home:

- Ask your child: “Is there something small you’d like to get better at this week?”

- Help them break it into steps. Celebrate effort, not just results.

- Avoid pressure — it’s about growth, not perfection.
